Travelling abroad for dental work used to feel like a leap of faith. With modern video consultations, digital scans, and proper planning, it now feels much more like booking a regular elective procedure — just in a different city. Here is the practical sequence we walk every international patient through when they reach out for the first time.
Step 1 — The free video consultation
Send us photos of your teeth (front, side, top of upper, top of lower) and any X-rays you may have. We will schedule a 15-minute video call with the dentist who will treat you. We ask:
- What is your main concern? (Function, aesthetics, pain, replacement of old work)
- What have other dentists told you?
- What is your timeline — urgent, in 6 months, flexible?
- What is your budget range?
You leave the video call with our initial impression of what is realistic, an idea of pricing, and a list of any tests we want before planning further.
Step 2 — Imaging and remote planning
If we agree to move forward, we ask you to get:
- A CBCT 3D scan of the relevant area (we can recommend imaging centres near you);
- An intraoral scan or impressions if you are local enough;
- Any specialist medical records relevant to your case (cardiologist, endocrinologist, etc., when applicable).
Once we have these, we plan your treatment digitally — implant positions, surgical guide design, mock-up of the final aesthetic, full timeline.
Step 3 — Written treatment plan and quote
You receive a detailed written plan with:
- Diagnosis and treatment options;
- Itemised pricing per visit;
- Expected number of visits and total duration;
- Materials we will use (implant brand, ceramic type, lab);
- Warranty terms.
This is a fixed quote, not an estimate. The price does not change unless your case changes during treatment for documented clinical reasons.
Step 4 — Booking the dates
Once you accept the plan, we coordinate:
- Your first appointment — usually consultation in person + first surgical visit if you have time;
- Suggested accommodation — we have agreements with several Sofia hotels close to the clinic;
- Airport transfer — included for international patients staying multiple days;
- Buffer time for unexpected adjustments — we book 1–2 extra days even if you do not need them.
Step 5 — Your trip
Sofia is well connected by direct flights to most European hubs (London, Frankfurt, Vienna, Amsterdam, Athens, Rome, Madrid, Istanbul). The airport-to-clinic drive is 25 minutes. The neighbourhood is residential, calm, walkable. Plenty of restaurants, pharmacies, parks within walking distance.
For All-on-4 patients, the typical visit pattern:
- Visit 1 (7–10 days) — implants placed, temporary fixed bridge fitted same day;
- 3-month gap at home for healing;
- Visit 2 (3–5 days) — final ceramic bridge fitted.
For single implants and aesthetic work the pattern is shorter. Specifics depend on your case.
Step 6 — After you go home
You have direct contact with the dentist who treated you. Not "the front desk" — the dentist. WhatsApp, email, video call. If something is unclear or worrying after you go home, it is one message away. If anything is wrong, we coordinate with a dentist near you and cover the cost of resolving it under warranty.
- Surprise costs at the clinic
- Wasted travel days waiting for X-rays we should have had
- Booking accommodation in the wrong neighbourhood
- Discovering after surgery that the warranty doesn't cover what you expected
- Feeling abandoned once you fly home
The right preparation turns a serious medical decision into a calm process. Most of our international patients tell us the dentistry was the easy part — the planning made the difference.
